Matt Gilbertson
Matt is celebrating his 11th year behind the wheel of a racecar.
After starting in the pure stock ranks and picking up
Rookie of the Year honors at Fiesta City Speedway, Matt
moved on to the IMCA Stock Car division where he picked
up several mid-season championships along with a pair
of track championships.
Following the 2003 season Matt sold off the majority of his Stock Car equipment and purchased a Victory Chassis Modified from JR Motorsports. What happened next was an outstanding 2004 season that culminated in the 2004 WISSOTA National Rookie of the Year, five feature wins, countless top fives and an impressive run of consistency towards the end of the 2004 season.
The 2005 season saw four more feature wins as the team tackled a new chassis design and a part time schedule with the United States Modified Tour and a run at the IMCA Super Nationals which saw the team just miss a starting spot in the 33 car feature that showcased over 400 modifieds from 27 states. At the end of the season a new car was once again purchased from JR Motorsports and the quest for the "Back to Basics" 2006 tour put into the planning stages.
Matt's plans for the 2008 season include running with
the USMTS Northern Region and to attend as many special
events as possible.
