Racing off to a strong start for the 2008
season

Matt Gilbertson and Gilbertson Racing
are off to strong start for the 2008 season.
Fresh off picking up the teams first win
of 2008 at Arlington Speedway, the team
is riding a wave of confidence thru the
month of June.
After falling victim to rain the week
before Gilbertson Racing ventured back
to Arlington Raceway on May 24th for a
makeup feature. Matt started 11th in the
feature and by lap six was in the lead.
The #23 Victory Chassis machine stayed
at the front to pick up the feature win.
The next weekend the team tried to catch
some racing at several tracks only to
head home after rain victimized the entire
Midwest racing scene.
Next up was I-90 Speedway in Hartford,
SD for an open $1000 to win show.
Matt started 4th in his heat and worked
up to second and was passing for the lead
when the checkered flag flew.
In the feature he started 5th and quietly
moved into second where he raced until
a caution came out with two laps to go.
Jay Noteboom passed Matt as he was attempting
a pass for the lead over Mike Steensma.
Matt raced for the win but came up short
but gathered up a solid third place finish.
This past Friday night Matt took the
#23 to a fourth place finish at Murray
County Speedway during a tune up race
for an upcoming UMSTS Modified Special
coming up on July 23rd.
Up next the team will head to Spencer,
IA and a $1000 to win IMCA Modified race
at the reconfigured high-banked 3/8 mile
facility. The next night they will head
to Park Jefferson Speedway for the 4th
Annual All Star Challenge USMTS show.
Matt will be going wheel to wheel with
NASCAR racers Kenny Wallace and Ken Schrader
in the $2000 to win event.

strong run at WISSOTA Western 100

Matt Gilbertson backed up a strong weekend
at the IMCA Super Nationals by posting
a strong finish against some of the best
mod drivers that WISSOTA had to offer
up at the Western WISSOTA 100 this past
weekend.
Matt started off the four day racing
even hosted by the WISSOTA Promoters Association
by finishing 4th after starting 10th in
his qualifying heat on Thursday night.
With the passing points system being utilized
that locked Matt into the qualifying feature
where he posted an 11th place finish."We
tried some stuff in the qualifying feature
to see if we could hit on something for
Saturday night but the car didn't respond."
stated Gilbertson. "We'll put it
back and hang some lead on it and go from
there and hopefully work our way towards
the front."
He did exactly that as he would up tallying
a 7th place finish after the dust settled
in the 35 lap A feature event. The "Monte
Madman" stayed consistent and smooth
all the way thru the caution filled affair
working all the way up to 5th at one point
before sliding back into the 7th spot.
The past two weeks have been very positive
for Gilbertson Racing which makes going
into the impending off season even that
much harder. With only three weekends
of racing left in WISSOTA the team has
it's eyes set on several specials to the

This next weekend will see the #23 modified
sit idle as Matt and Miranda will be getting
married in Montevideo, MN.

in outstanding performance at IMCA Supernationals

Gilbertson Racing just completed a very
strong run at the IMCA Super Nationals
in Boone, IA this past weekend.
Matt Gilbertson kicked off the week in
a fine way by running second in his heat
race which put him towards the front for
B main. In the last chance qualifier Matt
got caught up in other peoples wrecks
and ended up finishing 19th.
Night number two saw Matt run 4th in
a very tough heat race after starting
towards the back. The run put him in the
middle of the pack in B Main #7 where
he would charge up to sixth place. Just
finishing outside of a transfer spot.
The team continued to get stronger as
the week went along as Matt would pick
up the win in heat race #29. A redraw
at the scale put him in the 20th starting
spot for the second and final feature
of the night. Bad luck struck again as
Matt was victim of two separate incidents
that he was behind. Having to stop both
times on the track forced the #23 car
into an 18th place finish.
The final night saw Matt line up in last
chance heat race #7 where he drove the
Vetter Powered Victory Chassis towards
the front. Matt was in a transfer position
late in the race but contact with another
car shuffled him back to a sixth place
finish.
Although the team didn’t make the
33 car starting A Main it was still a
very positive week of racing. Matt finished
towards the front in two of his three
heats and also picking up a heat race
win on Friday night. Considering there
were 315 modifieds on hand this was a
big accomplishment for the team.
Up next is the WISSOTA Western 100 in
Aberdeen, SD on September 13th, 14th and
15th where a field of 75+ modifieds are
expected to compete.

Gilbertson turns in second
place run in night #1 of IMCA Supernationals

For Immediate Release:
Matt Gilbertson finished second in his
heat during night number one of the IMCA
Supernationals at Boone Speedway in Boone,
IA.
With 315 modifieds, 40 heat races, and
only the winner of each heat race moving
onto one of two qualifying features it
was one step closer to putting the car
into the 33 cars starting lineup for Saturday
nights feature event.

Gilbertson Racing back
on track

Gilbertson Racing will be back in action
this weekend with a full schedule that
will see them racing at Murray County
Speedway in Slayton, MN, Viking Speedway
in Alexandria, MN and then deciding Sunday
weather to race at Nobles County Raceway
in Worthington, MN or Madison Speedway
in Madison, MN.
After several weeks off the team has
the #23 Victory Chassis Modified ready
to roll back onto the track with a renewed
energy and their sites set on gathering
wins.
Matt would also like to let everyone
know that T-shirts are on order and they
will be available very soon. We’ll
have the shirts online and ready to order
as soon as they come in so make sure to
stop back in the next few weeks for updates.

Change of plans
1-18-07 - Montevideo, MN
Plans to kick off the 2007 racing season
earlier than usual are on hold while some
personal business is being attended to.
The first race of the season is now set
for the USMTS opener at Junction Motor
Speedway in McCool Junction, NE on March
9th & 10th.

Gilbertson Racing winds down 2006 season
11-1-06 - Montevideo, MN
The 2006 season is all but done for the majority of the country but Gilbertson Racing is already gearing up for the 2007 season.
The team has taken delivery of a 2007 Victory Chassis from JR Motorsports and will be attending several yearend specials. There are tentative plans to race at the Duel in the Desert at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on November 16-18 and possibly one other special event before the end of the year.
Before the team heads south the RaceMN Motorsports Expo will be first up on the calendar. The 1 st annual event will feature racing vendors along with racing seminars on November 10th and 11th in St. Cloud, MN. The team will be hauling the new car up to the expo so the gang from Chase Signs and Graphics can letter the car during the day. “It’ll be a great way for Chase to show everyone up here what a great job they do with their wraps and how affordable it really is.” Explained driver/owner Matt Gilbertson. “They have been doing my cars for the past few seasons and we’ve been very happy with all their work.” Make sure to stop by the Chase Signs and Graphics booth at the RaceMN Motorsports Expo and see how easy it is to apply a vinyl “wrap” and also view the 2007 Victory Chassis.
